How to play
Each number tells how many cells are black in the 3 × 3 square around it, its own cell included. Tap a cell to shade it, again to mark it with a dot (surely white), then to clear it; slide to paint several.
Example
Each number counts the black cells in its 3 × 3 square (itself included). The 0 makes the five cells around it white; the 2 and the 1 then put the two black cells at the bottom.
Tips to get better
- Start with the 0s and 9s (and 4s in a corner, 6s on an edge): their whole square is white, or all black.
- Compare two neighbouring numbers: their squares overlap, and the difference between them only concerns the cells they do not share.
- Mark surely white cells with a dot: the numbers around them become easier to read.
What this game trains
- Logical reasoning: deduce the solution from the rules, without guessing.
- Visuospatial perception: picture shapes, positions and paths.
